RAM, or Random Access Memory, is a form of computer data storage, that allows the information to be read randomly without accessing the preceding bytes before that. That makes the RAM a lot faster than other kinds of storage devices like DVDs or HDDs in which all the info must be read so that you can access specific information. In case you have a shared hosting account, the exact amount of memory which your web applications can use cannot be fixed and may commonly be determined by the free memory that is available on the physical machine. Using a standalone hosting server, however, there's always a minimum amount of physical memory which will be readily available at all times and will never be assigned to other customers even when it's not in use. That's valid with our virtual and dedicated servers.
